The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department issued evacuation orders for the towns of Arrowbear Lake and Running Springs, which are located along a major highway that leads to the well-known tourist destinations of Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead. According to CBS News, there are more than 6,000 individuals living in these locations overall.
Green Valley Lake, Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, and Valley of Enchantment are among the nearby areas that have also received warnings that they could have to quickly evacuate.
36,328 structures, including residences, businesses, and other buildings, are under threat from the fire. According to Highland resident Brian Gano, fluctuating breezes caused the flames to approach perilously.
The inquiry into the fire’s cause is still ongoing. According to officials, the region is extremely dry and the present weather is producing unpredictable behavior in the Line Fire. Firefighting planes are finding it more difficult to reach specific sections of the fire due to smoke.
While fighting the fire, three firemen suffered injuries. In the upcoming days, it’s anticipated that the hot, dry weather combined with thunderstorms will make combating fires more difficult.
